Who can use the library?
The library is open to the public, Sunday-Thursday, admission is free.

How do I find what I need?
You can search our library catalogue and electronic resources. You can also consult our reference librarian. Please note: for best performance browse using Google Chrome.

How can I find out which books are held in your library?
Via the online catalogue. Links to guides and video tutorials are available from the Training section in our homepage. Enter your search into the search box. You can refine your search using the filters by the suggested categories displayed to the right of your search results.

I have heard that most of your books are kept in storage rooms, and have to be ordered. How can I order a book?
Only about 10% of our books are available on open access in the reading room ("open shelf”). The remainder are kept in storage rooms as "closed stacks". While visiting our library you can fill the order slip with title, author and call number and give it to the reference librarian. The item will be brought to your table shortly.

How do I photocopy or scan?
Please review the instructions for the use of the Xerox machine, which have been provided on the board in the photocopy room.

I would like a photocopy of a journal article/chapter from a book which you appear to hold in your library. I am not an IAA employee. How can I do this?
An inter-library loan service is available for libraries only. To copy an item, please consult your library before visiting us. Libraries can request scanned version of articles and book chapters, up to 20 pages.

How can I access electronic resources?
Patrons may access most resources when in the library, but not remotely, due to licensing restrictions. IAA employees can access most electronic resources within IAA's offices network. Remote access is available for some electronic resources for IAA employees only. Please contact our librarians for further information.

I am trying to access an electronic journal, but I am being asked for a login and password. How can I see the article I need?
We have access to selected materials from various publishers, but not all content is available via our subscriptions. In case you can't access an article, please send your requested article's information to iaalibrary@israntique.org.il and we'll check it. Replies will be sent within 1-2 working days.

May I use my laptop or mobile device in the library?
Readers are welcome to use their own laptops or mobile devices in the Library.

Does the library have free Wi-Fi?
The IAA library's Wi-Fi network is free to its readers. Please ask the librarian for the password.

Can I borrow a book?
The IAA library is a reference library, so items are not available for circulation.

What is my password?
IAA registered users have patron records using their ID number as username/password.

How do I recommend a book?
We welcome your recommendations! Please send them by email to our library director, Sarit Hassin, at sarith@israntique.org.il

How much may I photocopy from books and journals?
There are limits to how much can be legally copied from a single document. A single copy of a 'substantial amount' may be copied under fair dealing for private study or for research for a non-commercial purpose.
The generally accepted upper limits of what constitutes a substantial amount that can be copied within 'fair dealing' are as follows:
- One photocopy of one article in a serial publication or in a set of conference proceedings or in a collective work;
- One photocopy of one complete chapter from a book;
- Up to 20% of a physical volume of any of the above (which may be greater than one article, chapter, or report).
Any more than this is not fair dealing.
There is no overall agreement about downloading from electronic journals. License conditions vary, and should always be checked. In general, however, you should not try to download more than the amounts indicated above.
