The scroll conservation laboratory of the Israel Antiquities Authority––the only laboratory in the world that treats the Judean Desert scrolls (the Dead Sea Scrolls)––have conserved and prepared a section of the Temple Scroll, more than three meters long, prior to displaying it in an exhibition abroad. This is the first time that such a large section of one of the principal and most important scrolls will be sent to an exhibition overseas.

The Israel Museum is lending this segment to be displayed at the largest Israeli art exhibition to ever take place outside of the country. The exhibition “The New Hebrews – One Hundred Years of Art in Israel” will open in Berlin, on May 19, 2005, in the Martin-Gropius-Bau, one of the largest and most important art exhibition centers in Germany.
