The Library faces east. Its plan resembles that of a Christian church:a vaulted ceiling divided by crossed arches resting on three massive columns, an apse at one end and small service rooms on two sides. The entrance is particularly small and low, its double-doors ensuring that no noise will penetrate from without. A row of very long, wide windows on each side allows in all the light needed in the library. The collection is stored one flight below the reading room. Next to the library is the archives, separated by a door.
