In 1974-75, the AURI, under the direction of A. Raban explored and partially excavated a wreck site 1.5 km off the shore, 3 km north of Acre. At a depth of approximately 10m, on the rocky sea bottom, a cargo of wine amphorae characterized by wide angular shoulders, and conical shapes, was found. This type of amphora is known from Phoenician sites throughout the Mediterranean. Judging by the amphorae, the assemblage was dated to the Persian period (5th century BC).

Another Persian assemblage was recovered from the Kfar-Galim region at a depth of 3-4 m. Finds included bronze ladles decorated with duck heads.
