In the shallow waters off Megadim coast, the cargo of a wrecked 17th century AD vessel was found. This date is based on the numerous Spanish coins from the Brabant mint found at this site. A continuous survey of the area was undertaken by divers from the AURI, under the direction of Y. Shapira and J. Galili. Among the remains were a large quantity of bronze containers; copper nails; two large bronze broadside cannons (one with its wooden carriage still intact); and breech-loading swivel guns of Spanish construction, one of iron and two of bronze.
