Description:
Intact glass weight made of dark brown glass with a circular inscription. For the use of glass weights, see glass eight no. . 1990-1282. The inscription includes the name of the Fatimid Khalif Az-Zahir who ruled between 1021-1036 CE/411-427 AH. The inscription reads al-Amir Az-Zahir le'Azyz din Allah .Based upon its weight of 3.95 grams it can be asumed that it was used to verify the weight of a one dirham coin.
