Description: Translation: 1. Unfortunate (and) poor 2. that thomthing bad 3. in all A.D. .H 4. Mattathias, notsword 5. peace, in peace The ostraca found in area X-2, stratum 7 that dated to the Hashmonean period, (mid 2nd-1st cent. BCE). Eshel (2003: 403) sugested to dated it to 70 CE, during the first revolt, while Jerusalem was under a siege.
